Product Description:
Clostridium butyricum belongs to the family Clostridium, which is Gram-positive, spores, oval spores, eccentric or secondary. Resistant to adverse environment.
Clostridium butyricum is a special anaerobic Gram-positive bacillus. Its diameter is (0.6-1.2)* (3.0-7.0) m, its ends are blunt and round, the middle part is slightly inflated, the bacteria are straight rod-shaped or slightly curved, single or paired, short chain, occasional filamentous bacteria, flagella around the body, can move. Spore oval, eccentric or secondary. Gram staining showed that the primary cultured bacteria were positive, but slightly longer bacteria were negative. White or cream-colored irregular round colonies were formed on agar plate with a slightly protruding diameter of 1-3 mm. It can ferment carbohydrates such as glucose, sucrose, fructose and lactose to produce acid without hydrolyzing gelatin or serum protein. A notable feature is the production of amylase, which hydrolyzes starch but does not hydrolyze cellulose. The final metabolites of hydrolyzed starch and sugar were butyric acid, acetic acid and lactic acid. A small amount of propionic acid and formic acid was also found. Nitrate reduction test was negative. The molar fraction of G+C in Clostridium butyricum DNA is 27%~28%.
